[0320-2222] THE GHOSTS OF APOCALYPSE – Companion Dossier (PDF)

Description

In October 1962, as the world watched the naval blockade of Cuba, Green Beret commandos across West Germany stood silently on 90-minute standby with 59-pound atomic warheads strapped to their rucksacks. Codenamed Project Green Light, this ultra-secret Cold War program trained elite two-man Special Forces teams to infiltrate deep behind Warsaw Pact lines, manually dial in yields on the miniature W54 plutonium core, and detonate tactical nuclear charges to seal off invasion routes like the Fulda Gap. Classified doctrine demanded soldiers arm mechanical timers and execute an impossible sprint across open terrain, knowing the blast radius and lethal fallout offered virtually zero margin for survival. The Companion Dossier provides the definitive documentary breakdown of this terrifying contingency plan. Featuring declassified Defense Atomic Support Agency schematics, tactical deployment timelines, emergency release authorizations, and oral histories from the veterans of Building T-1212 at Fort Bragg, this intelligence report exposes the cold strategic calculus that converted elite soldiers into walking human fuses to stall the Soviet armored advance.
