[0150-2300] Oleg Gordievsky – Companion Dossier (PDF)

Description

In the twilight years of the Cold War, MI6 possessed an asset of unprecedented caliber: Oleg Gordievsky, designated under the operational cryptonym PIMLICO. Operating deep within the KGB’s First Chief Directorate, Gordievsky funneled crucial Soviet strategic planning directly to Whitehall and Langley. However, the delicate apparatus of British espionage shuddered when an anonymous tip from CIA counterintelligence hinted at a devastating truth: a traitor lurked within Western ranks, leaving Gordievsky’s survival hanging by a razor-thin margin. Unbeknownst to London, the leak did not stem from Century House, but from Aldrich Ames operating within the CIA’s own Soviet Division. This operational dossier traces the tightening perimeter around Gordievsky as Moscow’s counter-espionage surveillance closed in, triggering the execution of Operation Pimlico—one of the most daring car-trunk exfiltrations across the Soviet-Finnish border ever engineered. Enriched with cross-checked cable chronologies, surveillance route maps, declassified internal memos, and forensic asset assessments, this research dossier reconstructs the harrowing collision of paranoia, institutional distrust, and sheer tradecraft that saved Britain’s most valuable mole from the firing squads of the Lubyanka.
